Quality Assurance

We have a well-developed and comprehensive quality assurance (QA) system to ensure the high caliber of teaching and academic probity of our programmes. The Faculty Board (FB) is at the top of the Programme Management Structure, which is charged with overseeing the Taught Postgraduate Studies Committee (TPSC) and the Faculty Research Committee (FRC).

The TPSC is chaired by the Associate Dean with the responsibility of overseeing academic issues and related QA matters, and making recommendations on programme achievements to the FB.

Our Taught Postgraduate programmes are grouped under three Schemes, governed by three respective committees. Each Scheme Committee (SC) of the three specific schemes – MBA Scheme, Professional Accounting & Finance (AF) Scheme and Master of Science (MSc) Scheme – reports to the TPSC concerning the overall quality of the Scheme and bears responsibility for the effective organisation and development of all programmes within the Scheme.

The overall academic and operational responsibilities and the development of the programmes are watched over by different Programme Committees (PCs). Each PC is required to submit an annual programme review of the programme to the TPSC via respective SCs as part of the Annual QA exercise, for the final scrutiny by the FB. While MBA and AF Schemes have their own PCs, the MSc Scheme, given the distinct disciplinary areas involved, has three departmental MSc PCs established under it. For the doctoral level programme, DBA's PC reports directly to the TPSC.

The Faculty Research Committee (FRC) is charged with overseeing research-related matters, e.g. maintaining the academic standard and the development of research degrees (MPhil and PhD). It draws on the input of the Departmental Research Committees (DRCs) of the three school/departments of the Faculty, and reports to the University's Research Committee (RC).
